FIRST THEY CAME FOR…

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out–
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out–
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out–
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me–and there was no one left to speak for me.

Please contemplate how “School Closures, Turnarounds, Phase-outs and Co-Location” practices impact you and your community. If you think these do not touch you, study the repercussions and importantly, the ripple effect…the cost differential of public education versus the inevitable incarcerations when our young are left to their own devices is great

Consider that school closures that might not seem to affect you now, but could soon come to a town near you. Indeed, as others share, it can happen to you.

Most of us have heard the reflection of one man, riddled with guilt. [See above] A prominent Protestant Pastor, Martin Niemøller was moved by what he and others had not done. While the time and circumstances may seem far removed from 21st Century concerns as these relate to our nation’s schools, please consider the parallels. Save Our Schools has and we invite you to ponder the people, the players, and the policymakers.

Save Our Schools offers Martin Niemøller musing and a few more recent reflections on “School Closures, Turnarounds, Phase-outs and Co-Location” We hope these threads will inspire thought and if you choose, act.
